Here are some of the photos I've taken. I'm not a very good photographer. My approach is a cross between wandering around looking for good light, taking a ton of photos and dumb luck.
I like photography because it's a way to capture a story, a memory and a place all in one medium. No moment will ever be the same again, so for me it's like looking at a distant star and looking into a living past.
Some of my favorite photos are terrible ones, like the time I thought I could take good photos of a herd of elephants with new born calfs just south of the Sahel near Chad with AF 70-300mm lens (note they looked very very small when developed). I thought I was close. I was wrong. Instead, what I got were tiny elephants in a vast grassland. That was back in the day of processing film into physical prints. I had to wait 8 months to get back to the states to see the results of my photography, which these days seems very quaint and neolithic. This is what that place is though, vast, so the outcome was a bad photo but one that is representative of this huge world.
